Would you like to be part of the most exciting sports and community venue in Yorkshire? Would you like to work in a multi-club, multi-sport environment? If so, a full-time opportunity has arisen to join the team at the LNER Community Stadium in York.

Since its opening, the Stadium has hosted more than 200 fixtures, selling around 450,000 tickets. In addition to hosting York City Football Club and York City Knights fixtures, the stadium currently hosts fixtures for Leeds United U21s. It has also hosted a number of fixtures for the Rugby League World Cup 2021, Leeds United first team, Sheffield United Under 21’s, The RFL’s Summer Bash, the Women’s Super League Grand Final 2023, North Riding County FA Cup finals and York & District Youth Cup Finals and plans are already in place for hosting several of the Women’s Rugby Union World Cup 2025 group stage fixtures.

Overview

Based at the stadium and working closely with the Stadium Manager and reporting to the General Manager, the Stadium Ticketing Manager will be responsible for the ticketing and customer services teams, along with delivering the technical ticket management processes. The role will involve administrating and facilitating the fulfilment of ticketing services – providing tailored and bespoke solutions as requested by York City FC and York RLFC, as well as other contracted users of the stadium from time to time.

What you will be doing

  • Supporting the ongoing transition from the current ticket platform systems to the new providers

  • Preparing, implementing and maintaining future event/fixture planning within tight deadlines

  • Collating, recording and communicating all ticketing and customer service data into informative reports for management and the licensed clubs

  • Providing a professional and seamless ticketing journey for all match day attendees

  • Managing the performance and welfare of all ticket office staff (headcount approx. 10), including the planning and management of staff rotas and time recording

  • Developing and implementing processes for ticket training to facilitate continual improvement for the ticket office team

  • Overseeing comprehensive pre-match planning and testing of tickets and access control systems

  • On-site attendance during fixtures to deal with live issues as they arise

  • Evolving the design and build phases within the ticket system – tailored to the specific requests of the user clubs

  • Continual improvement of internal processes and audit checks, drawing on best practice procedures within other multi-club, multi-sport stadium environments

  • Full awareness and early intervention into all IT-related matters that affect the performance of the ticketing and access control systems

Skills and experience required:

  • You should have strong interpersonal and project management skills, excellent attention to detail and be confident when liaising with your team and the stadium stakeholders. In addition, you must be able to demonstrate:

  • A proven track record and relevant experience working within a sporting stadium’s ticketing function

  • Ability to keep stadium stakeholders and internal teams fully informed of the progress of operations and any issues that may arise that could affect its successful delivery and high standard of service

  • Delivery of post-fixture operational observations and recommendations for future improvements

  • Strong communication and presentation skills (both written and verbal) for internal delivery and stadium users generally, including effective use of Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel

  • Able to work in a calm, kind and professional manner in a fast-moving and often pressured environment
