Bank Holiday Fixture - 29th March

Further to significant misinformation currently circulating in respect of York City FC’s fixture against Chesterfield this coming Friday, it is important to clarify that the decision on the number of stands to be opened for this, and any fixture, at the stadium rests completely with the host clubs.

Once informed of the number (and configuration) of stands to be opened, York SMC will advise the clubs on any relevant safety matters and cost implications, before making the necessary arrangements to meet the clubs’ requests.

On Monday 11th March it was confirmed in writing by York City FC that they did not wish to open the North Stand for the fixture at that time and this was reconfirmed in writing on Monday 18th March. Since then, no request has been made to York SMC to reverse that decision. Should it be forthcoming by the club’s executives, appropriate plans will be put in place.
